教学目标

1. 知识目标：(1)掌握情态动词can/could表示能力时的用法。

（2）复习巩固谈论现在及过去的能力。

2. 技能目标：（1）能够读懂有关谈论现在和过去能做和不能做的事情的简单的故事。

（2）能够写出表示自己和他人能力的短文

3. 情感目标：学习Jenny对待生活的乐观和勇敢态度。

教学内容

教学重点：复习和巩固表示现在的能力和过去的能力：

When she was three, she could play the piano a little but she couldn’t write at all.  

When she was five, she could dance just a little.

She can do it well now, but she couldn’t do it at all before.

教学难点：通过阅读短文，学会推理判断和寻找细节信息，完成练习活动。

教学过程

Step 1 lead-in（Talking about my abilities）

1.Lead to new class to help students revise the useful expressions in the topic.

Step 2 Talk about  others’ abilities

1.Watch a video to know Jane’s and her friends’ abilities ,  

-What can he /she/they do? - He/She/They can... but ...couldn’t ... at the age of/when ...was /were....

2.Summarize the usage of can and could.

3    3.Do exercise about can/could.

【设计意图】复习情态动词can/could的基本句式及其用法， 使学习更为系统。

Step 3  Pre -reading  

1.Guide to think about themselves according to the following questions.

What could you do at different ages?  

       2.listen to the passage and find out the answers of the following questions.

(1) What could Jenny do at the age of three?

 (2)What could Jenny do at the age of five?

 (3) What could Jenny do at the age of six?

【设计意图】由实际情况引入，激发学生的学习兴趣，听力练习为接下来的阅读做铺垫。
